Description
Description:
Some of the largest and most beautiful European Camponotus ants. They walk with their abdomens raised and have fairly long legs, which helps them cope with the heat. This species was once considered a subspecies of Camponotus maculatus. The colony can grow to about 10,000 workers and contains a single queen. The workers exhibit a very strong polymorphism, with the largest workers resembling ligniperda queens in size.
