Test tube adapter for ants - modular universal connector for nests, outworlds, and test tubes
The modular connection adapter is an essential accessory designed for safely connecting test tubes to ant nests, outworlds, or connecting two test tubes directly end to end during colony relocation. It consists of precisely sized flexible tubing segments, giving you complete freedom to build the exact setup you need.

Kit components and their applications
The adapter includes three interconnecting flexible vinyl tubing segments of different diameters:
- Segment 10x14 mm (length approx. 5-15 mm): fits snugly around most standard 16 mm test tubes on the market (made of glass or plastic). It also allows joining two 16 mm test tubes directly end to end during colony move.
- Segment 8x10 mm (length approx. 5-15 mm): fits snugly onto smaller 12x75 mm test tubes (available in our store and standard 12 mm tubes). It allows joining two 12x75 mm tubes together, and also slides snugly inside the 10x14 mm segment as a step down reducer.
- Segment 6x8 mm (length approx. 2-4 cm): matches the universal connection standard found across ant nests and outworlds. It fits tightly into all our 3D printed and acrylic nests, outworlds, and mini outworlds, while sliding firmly into the 8x10 mm tubing piece.
Shipped ready for self assembly
We ship this adapter in separate modular segments for self assembly. Every ant keeper uses a different combination depending on their immediate setup needs (such as linking two test tubes end to end, stepping down from large to small tubes, or plugging into an outworld). Putting the pieces together takes just seconds - simply push one segment into the other to your desired depth.
Guaranteed fit and compatibility
We guarantee that this adapter fits all nests, outworlds, and mini outworlds offered by Ants Invasion, as well as 12x75 mm and 16x100 mm test tubes.
In the vast majority of cases, the adapter also fits our long 16x160 mm test tubes made of glass. Very rarely, minor fitting variations can occur due to glass manufacturing tolerances, since laboratory glass cannot be machine shaped to hundredths of a millimeter as consistently as molded plastics.
How to connect two test tubes for colony transfer?
Simply use the outer segment of the adapter (10x14 mm for 16 mm tubes or 8x10 mm for 12x75 mm tubes). Slide the open ends of both test tubes face to face into each end of the tubing. This forms a secure escape proof tunnel through which ants can move comfortably into their fresh test tube.
Does assembly require glue or tools?
No. All pieces assemble purely by friction fit (push fit). The elasticity of the vinyl tubing ensures a completely sealed connection without any adhesives or specialized tools.
