Description:

Messor minor exhibits a relatively small polymorphism (lack of soldiers, but minors are larger than in Messor structor) and stunning coloration. They have black abdomens and red bodies. Apart from their appearance, it is challenging to provide more specific information about them beyond what is generally known about the Messor genus. The colony size is likely up to around 50,000 workers, and they establish monogynous colonies in a monastic manner. They are active throughout the day, but particularly at night.
