Description
Messor capitatus is a calm harvester ant species found in Southern Europe and Africa. They primarily feed on seeds, which is characteristic of the entire Messor genus. Heating is not required but can accelerate their development. Queens are slightly larger and more robust compared to the more popular species, Messor barbarus. According to many sources, colonies do not exceed 5,000 workers, making them suitable for people with limited space for formicaria.
