Description
An easy-to-care-for species of harvester ants from Africa, known for their primary diet - seeds, which they grind into a paste, commonly known as ant bread. They are a good species for beginners, but care should be taken not to stress them with frequent inspections or vibrations, as they are very sensitive during the founding stage and may consume their brood. They form small colonies (for Messor ants), up to 5,000 workers.
