Description

An easy-to-care-for species of harvester ants from Africa, known for their main diet - seeds, which they grind into a paste, also known as ant bread. They are a good choice for beginners, but care should be taken not to stress them too much with frequent inspections or vibrations, as they are very sensitive to these in the early stages of colony development and may consume their brood. They form small colonies (for Messor ants), up to 5,000 workers.
