Description
Plain, white springtails, like those found under a stone. We haven't identified the species, but they are likely Coecobrya sp. We cultivate them in containers with isopods. To start your own culture, a few dozen individuals are enough, but if you want to immediately use them as a cleaning crew, consider getting a larger batch. Their cultivation is truly straightforward - a container with any moist substrate and something organic for them to eat will suffice. You can use charcoal, soil, moss, peat, leaves, cotton - literally anything. You can feed them insect remains or any food you use for your other pets. Dog or cat food, cockroach crustaceans, fish flakes - anything that was once alive. They are not usually bothered by mold, unless it's in really significant amounts. Ventilation is generally not necessary.
To keep the cost as low as possible, we send them in whatever is available, for example: a small drawstring bag with a bit of soil, a syringe with a few leaves, or a 250 ml container. It's possible that harmless mites might be among them - saprophages. This is entirely normal in springtail cultivation and they almost always appear sooner or later. Various other tiny creatures that are also commonly present in most homes and cultures might also show up.
