Description

Tropical green algae wafers are a food dedicated to algae eaters, but they also work well for feeding isopods. These tablets contain spirulina, various types of algae, fish, fish products, mollusks, crustaceans, grains, oils, and fats, so it's no wonder that isopods love them. In our breeding, they serve as a supplement, but there's no reason why they can't be a staple of their diet alongside leaves, cucumber, or other juicy vegetables. Armadillidium and most Porcellio species seem particularly interested in this food, especially Porcellio laevis and scaber, who sometimes attempt to carry away a tablet several times larger than themselves. We try to provide approximately one tablet per 100 isopods once a week, although it may disappear faster for some colonies, in which case we offer more. For smaller colonies, we simply provide a piece of the tablet, as it can be easily broken.
