Description:

The most common ant species in Polish ant keeping and the most abundant in Central Europe, ideal for beginners. The colony development is quite fast, with queens living for several decades, and the colonies being highly territorial. In nature, this species often dominates over others in the vicinity. These ants cultivate aphids, keeping their eggs in the nest during winter to resume breeding in spring.
