Description
Charming termites originating from southern Europe. Excellent as the first species for breeding. They form small colonies (small for termites ^^) consisting of up to several thousand individuals. Unlike ants, a royal pair founds the colony. Their main habitat and food source is wood, so breeding does not require providing feeder insects. The species has a soldier caste with large mandibles, perfect for tunneling even through hard wood.
What will you need to keep these fascinating creatures at home?
Initially, a test tube with water and access to cellulose (such as paper) will suffice for the colony. As they grow, we recommend moving them into a glass enclosure, which will provide comfortable observation and prevent escapes
