Description

Description:

Mono or polygynous, small colonies with a few thousand workers. Beautifully colored, very fast, and aggressive. They attack other ants and insects. If the nest is disturbed, they can bite humans quite sorely, but the pain subsides within a few seconds.

In nature, they nest in dry, sunny areas, in the ground, under stones or gravel. They prefer open areas near abandoned factories, warehouses, old sports fields, etc.

Fun fact: queens can live up to 14 years.
