Description
Description:
Known as silky ant or dusky ant. These ants are very gentle and, whenever possible, avoid conflict. If you are looking for a beautiful, sizable, and easy ant species to start with, Fusca ants will be perfect. In nature, these ants live under stones or in decaying wood. They often fall victim to slavery, as other ants plunder their pupae, and the emerging worker ants serve the new colony. This makes it worthwhile to keep them in order to obtain their pupae, for example, for Formica sanguinea. You can also make a profit from selling the pupae of this species, especially in early spring.
Colonies often have dozens or more queens.
