Description
In nature, this species largely feeds on fig seeds, often collected from bird droppings. They process them into ant bread, similar to Messor ants, hence the large, muscular heads of the majors. They establish small colonies of no more than a hundred workers. These ants nest in wood, sticks, and under stones.
