Description

Popa spurca, also known as the African twig mantis, is a very distinctive-looking mantis species from Africa. Females grow up to about 8 cm (3.15 inches), and males are slightly smaller. This species is quite aggressive towards prey, successfully consuming insects larger than themselves. The wings of adult individuals are beautifully colored red. In the wild, they inhabit dry, grassy areas. They are very easy to care for in captivity and do not require frequent misting.
