Description
Harpactira namaquensis is a terrestrial tarantula native to southern Africa, occurring among others in the Namaqualand region. It grows to approx. 5–6 cm body length. It features a subdued, sandy-brown coloration that provides excellent camouflage in its natural habitat. A fast species that can be defensive, though it usually prefers flight over confrontation. It leads a terrestrial-burrowing lifestyle, readily digging and creating retreats. Requires a dry substrate with slightly moistened spots locally and good ventilation. Ideal for keepers looking for less common African species.
