Description
Sold specimens are approximately 3-5cm (1.18-1.97 in).
Often called Bumble Bee Millipede due to the yellow stripes on their black bodies, they naturally originate from the Caribbean but have been introduced to the southeastern United States. They feed on forest litter; in captivity, this consists of a mix of soil with leaves, wood rot, and calcium. Occasionally, you can also provide them with a juicy fruit or vegetable and dried protein food such as gammarus. They are very easy and trouble-free to care for, making them ideal for beginners in terrarium keeping. When disturbed, they emit an unpleasant-smelling secretion to deter predators. They grow up to about 6cm (2.36 in). These are completely harmless and beneficial arthropods. They can be successfully kept in a terrarium.
