Description

The green roach (Panchlora nivea) is an excellent food for all exotic animals. They are very easy to breed, requiring only a container with a thick layer of moist soil, food such as fruits, and, for example, cat food. Temperature is not a significant factor; they thrive even at room temperature. They are very active, encouraging potential predators to attack. They have very little chitin and can fly, making them one of the best insects for feeding mantises—reducing the risk of impaction, and their ability to fly entices mantises, which prefer flying insects.

These roaches are also notable for their very attractive appearance, making them a popular choice for hobbyist breeding rather than as feeder insects. P. nivea has two stages: the nymph stage, characterized by brown coloration, lack of wings, and a subterranean lifestyle, and the adult stage—where the nymph molts after reaching its maximum size, gaining its characteristic green color.
