Description
Lissachatina fulica Snail Breeding
Terrarium
Size: For an adult snail, a minimum of 40x30x30 cm. For multiple snails, larger terrariums are needed.
Material: Glass or plastic. It is important that the terrarium has ventilation, e.g., holes in the lid and sides of the container.
Substrate
Type: Coconut fiber, peat, a mix of these two, soil, or other bioactive substrates.
Humidity: The substrate should be moist but not wet. Regular misting with distilled or boiled water helps maintain proper humidity.
Temperature
Range: The optimal temperature is 24-28°C. At night, it can drop to 20°C.
Heating: Heating mats can be used to maintain the right temperature.
Humidity Level
Humidity should be around 70-90%. Regular misting of the terrarium interior is essential.
Terrarium Decoration
Decoration is up to personal preference, but sharp edges should be avoided.
Diet
Basic food: Vegetables, fruits, herbs, fish food, amphipods.
Supplements: Calcium is essential. It can be provided in the form of eggshells, cuttlebone, or special calcium supplements for snails.
Avoid: Avoid citrus and salted products.
Hygiene
Regularly remove droppings and food leftovers to prevent mold. The substrate should be replaced every few weeks or as needed.
Young Snails
Young snails should be kept in a separate terrarium until they reach an appropriate size. Only then can they be introduced to larger individuals. If dominance is observed, they should be separated.
Health
Regularly check snails for shell damage.
Summary
Breeding Lissachatina fulica snails is relatively easy if the proper conditions are provided, and the terrarium and its inhabitants are regularly maintained.
