Description
Very attractive scorpion, relatively small in size (approximately 4cm /1.57 in), ideal for beginner keepers.
This species reproduces through parthenogenesis, meaning only females are present and they reproduce without the involvement of males (similar to natural cloning). It is an arboreal species that often inhabits tree bark crevices in the wild. Therefore, in captivity, it is recommended to provide a slanted piece of bark for them to molt gravitationally.
This scorpion has a moderate venom potency, meaning that stings can cause local symptoms such as burning, itching, redness, and mild swelling, but it does not pose a significant threat to life or health. This species is very easy to care for and is tolerant of beginner mistakes. Due to its small size, it does not require a large enclosure. Ensure that the enclosure is misted every 2-3 days. The ideal temperature range for this arachnid is between 24-27°C (75-81°F).
Like all scorpions, it is a very effective predator, so feeder insects such as Turkish cockroaches or fruit flies are necessary for its care.
